We just pulled this engine out of an A36 Bonanza we got in: IO-550-B

25 since major overhaul, and 15115 Total time since new.

It’s not perfect and has a prop strike history. We did dye check and mic the crank. You can also, when you check the photos, see that it shows some damage; $19,500

New AD note on Continental Cylinder

The long-feared Airworthiness Directive taking certain SAP cylinders out of service on Continental 470, 520 and 550 engines became effective today as the FAA published it on its regulatory website.

Mostly, if you have a SAP 500+ cubic inch cylinder on your airplane, and it’s sandcast, regulators are in a hurry for it to be taken out of service.

Just over 520 hours since new, off a SR22 with the Tornado Alley Turbo normalizing kit installed at the factory. Coming out of fresh prop-strike inspection now, put together post-inspection with a factory-new crankshaft.

Getting the word out on this, a injected Continental 550 (IO550-B) we just pulled from a A36 Bonanza.

Good times with 264 since overhaul. We dialed and mic’d the crank and didn’t see any problems.

Off the front of a SR 22 Cirrus, can include the turbo normalizer kit. We can sell it after running it through a prop strike inspection at an engine shop, or sell it outright. It’s up to you.
